Creativity brings joy to both clients and hypnotherapists for the same reason: the immense satisfaction that comes from bringing forth something new. Whether that something new is a fresh metaphor you invent on-the-spot during a therapy session or whether it?s an artistic expression in music or art, or perhaps something more mundane, such as a new marketing gimmick, in all these examples the joy arises from the process of creation.

True, there may well be further satisfaction as the metaphor helps your client resolve her problem or someone admires your painting or buys your gimmick. But the fundamental joy is in the creating, not in the end product. Why is this? Because creativity is quintessentially a human need. We need to create to be feel fully human and fulfilled.
